Stunning Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora lands powerful From the Ashes DLC, cementing the definitive Pandora experience as Fire and Ash hits theaters

PARIS — Ubisoft and developer Massive Entertainment released the From the Ashes expansion for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Friday, adding a darker, character-led chapter to the open-world adventure across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Amazon Luna and PC. Timed to the theatrical debut of Avatar: Fire and Ash, the DLC shifts control to Na’vi warrior So’lek and pushes the game into a more scorched, survival-minded corner of the Western Frontier, Dec. 19, 2025.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora shifts to So’lek in From the Ashes

In Ubisoft’s expansion announcement, the publisher said the DLC takes place shortly after the main game and follows So’lek, a battle-hardened warrior from the Trr’ong clan, after he is ambushed by the RDA and their new allies in the Ash clan. Ubisoft said the story begins with So’lek waking up “to a world in flames,” with his Sarentu family scattered, as he tries to reunite with and protect those he cares about.

“With ‘From the Ashes’, we wanted to push the boundaries of what players can experience in Pandora,” said Omar Bouali, creative director at Massive Entertainment. Ubisoft said the campaign spans a ravaged Kinglor Forest and an additional new area, while leaning into more intense combat and a darker tone.

According to the official Avatar site, From the Ashes is “Now available” as either a standalone expansion for players who already own Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora or as part of a bundle that includes the base game and bonus cosmetic content. The expansion is also included with Ubisoft+ Premium.

Third-person mode arrives ahead of the new story

The expansion lands after a free Dec. 5 update that brought third-person mode and New Game Plus to Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. TechRadar reported Massive reworked key systems — including animations and camera work — to make the perspective switch feel seamless, while New Game Plus lets players replay the story with their gear and skills intact, plus tougher enemies and new progression.

Ubisoft said the new add-on is designed to benefit from that viewpoint as well, calling out “immersion via third-person gameplay” in its expansion announcement.

Fire and Ash hits theaters, and the tie-in is immediate

Disney lists Avatar: Fire and Ash as a Dec. 19 theatrical release with a 3-hour, 15-minute runtime. Reuters reported the film opened with about $345 million in global ticket sales through its first weekend, including $88 million in the U.S. and Canada, putting Pandora back at the center of the holiday box office.

Ubisoft is leaning into the overlap. “We’re equally excited for Avatar fans to experience untold stories through new interactive adventures,” said Joshua Izzo, executive vice president of franchise development at Lightstorm Entertainment.

A longer arc of support

The latest push is part of a steady post-launch cadence for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. game’s December 2023 release date at Ubisoft Forward in June 2023, and 2024’s first story pack, The Sky Breaker, added fresh territory and new threats. GameSpot noted that DLC introduced The Heart of the Plains and an RDA AMP Defender mech equipped with a riot shield and gatling gun.

Now, From the Ashes gives Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora another narrative checkpoint — and a film-timed reason to return.
