Game of Thrones Dragonfire Ignites Exciting New House of the Dragon Mobile Strategy Game as Pre-Registration Goes Live

BOSTON — Warner Bros. Games and HBO announced pre-registration for Game of Thrones: Dragonfire, a free-to-play mobile strategy game based on House of the Dragon, across the App Store, Google Play and the title’s official website. Developed by Warner Bros. Games Boston, the game leans into dragon warfare, alliance-building and territorial conflict in Westeros ahead of a broader 2026 launch. The announcement came April 7, 2026.

According to the official FAQ, the game is slated to launch in 2026 and will roll out across select territories in the Americas, Europe, Oceania, MENA and Asia. That makes the title a direct game extension of HBO’s Targaryen-era prequel, with a clearer dragon-first focus than many earlier Westeros tie-ins.

Why Game of Thrones Dragonfire could resonate with House of the Dragon fans

The setup is built for dragon-heavy spectacle. The Google Play listing describes Dragonfire as a 4X strategy game set 172 years before Daenerys Targaryen, where players hatch dragons, expand strongholds, forge alliances and fight over Westeros landmarks such as the Red Keep, Dragonstone and Harrenhal. It also points to recognizable figures including Rhaenyra Targaryen and Daemon Targaryen, giving the game a firm link to the television series.

Pre-registration is also part of the pitch. On the official Dragonfire site, milestone rewards range from gold and banner maker sigils to runic fragments, avatars and the dragon Dawnseeker at the top tier. That reward structure is familiar mobile strategy design, but it fits a franchise that has always traded in status, escalation and spectacle.

Game of Thrones Dragonfire continues a longer Westeros gaming timeline

Dragonfire does not arrive in a vacuum. GameSpot reported in late 2024 that Game of Thrones: Kingsroad had been unveiled as a mobile RPG, while GamesBeat covered the 2017 debut of Game of Thrones: Conquest, a mobile strategy title built around the original series. Seen in that context, Dragonfire looks less like a one-off and more like the next step in a longer effort to keep George R.R. Martin’s world active on phones between screen releases.

What may help this game stand out is timing. House of the Dragon gives Dragonfire a dragon-heavy era, a more distinct visual identity and a cleaner hook for fans who want politics, warfare and spectacle on mobile without leaving the Targaryen side of the franchise. For now, pre-registration gives those fans a clear entry point while Warner Bros. and HBO continue to expand Westeros across screens and devices.
