SEOUL, South Korea — LG Electronics this month detailed its first LG Micro RGB TV, betting that RGB LED backlighting and a new processor can close the gap with OLED on color and contrast. Google, meanwhile, has started pushing its Find Hub tracking tools onto Wear OS, turning a smartwatch into a shortcut for locating phones, earbuds and tags, Dec. 22, 2025.

In a CES 2026 preview, LG said the LG Micro RGB TV (Micro RGB evo, model MRGB95) is certified by Intertek for 100% color gamut coverage in BT.2020, alongside DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB. BT.2020 is the wide-gamut target for Ultra HD video, and “full coverage” is a headline-grabbing claim in a market where even premium panels typically fall short of that spec.

LG said the LG Micro RGB TV uses “Micro Dimming Ultra” with more than 1,000 dimming zones, and that its 100-inch MRGB95B version has already been named a CES 2026 Innovation Awards winner. “Achieving the utmost visual fidelity is the goal of any display,” said Park Hyoung-sei, president of the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company.
LG’s own write-up frames the technology as a step beyond MiniLED, using ultra-small red, green and blue LEDs for the backlight and leaning on OLED-era processing tricks. More details, including pricing and exact on-sale timing, are expected closer to CES in January.

What the LG Micro RGB TV is — and what it isn’t
The name risks confusion: the LG Micro RGB TV is not microLED. It is still an LCD TV with an LED backlight, but it swaps the usual white/blue backlight for tightly controlled RGB LEDs to improve color purity and efficiency. That approach also differs from self-emissive displays, where each pixel produces its own light.

The timing also fits a broader arc. At CES 2025, Hisense introduced a 116-inch TriChroma set built around “RGB Local Dimming” and pitched it as a bridge between MiniLED and MicroLED — an early sign that full-color backlights were moving from lab talk to shipping hardware.

Google’s Find Hub hits Wear OS
On the software side, Google’s Find Hub app listing now includes support for “Mobile and supported Wear OS devices,” with core controls to view hardware on a map, ring a nearby device, or remotely secure and erase it. The listing also says location data in the Find Hub network is encrypted and “not visible even to Google.”

Early coverage of the Wear OS rollout says the watch app starts with a “My devices” list and offers options like playing a sound, securing a device and opening directions via Google Maps — useful if the missing item is your phone and you’re trying to avoid a full pocket-dump in public.

The move is the latest step in a longer transition: Google rolled out an expanded, crowdsourced Find My Device network in April 2024 and later rebranded the service to Find Hub as it added more partners and features.
