As Reuters reported Friday, Hyundai said roughly 68,500 vehicles are included in the action, including about 60,500 in the U.S. and 8,000 in Canada. The company also said it is offering rental vehicles for customers who want alternate transportation while a permanent remedy is developed.
Hyundai Palisade recall: what Hyundai says is affected
In its announcement, Hyundai said the stop-sale and planned recall cover 2026 Palisade Limited and Calligraphy trims. Hyundai also said an interim over-the-air software update expected by the end of March will improve how the system responds when it encounters an occupant or object, add operating safeguards and enhance overall safety.
Until a final repair is available, Hyundai urged owners to make sure no person or object, including children, is in the seat or seat-folding area before using the second- or third-row power-seat functions. Owners can monitor Hyundai’s recall lookup tool and NHTSA’s recall database as VIN-specific information and repair instructions are posted.
What happens next
Hyundai said it does not yet have the full facts of the Ohio case, but it paired the stop-sale with a recall plan and the promise of an interim software update. Dealers are pausing sales of new Limited and Calligraphy models covered by the action while Hyundai works on a permanent fix.
Hyundai Palisade recall follows other recent safety actions
The power-seat issue is separate from Hyundai’s earlier Palisade campaigns, but it arrives after other recent safety actions involving the three-row SUV. Those include a September 2025 Reuters report on a Palisade seat-belt buckle recall affecting more than 568,000 SUVs and a January 2026 Reuters report on a separate side-curtain-airbag recall affecting about 568,576 Palisades. Those cases involved different components, yet they show the Palisade has remained under close safety scrutiny heading into the 2026 model year.
For now, the immediate issue centers on new Limited and Calligraphy SUVs already sold or still in dealer inventory. Hyundai said a full recall remedy is in development, and owners should expect more detailed dealer guidance once the permanent repair is ready.
